Monday, January 9, 7:30 pm, CILU monthly meeting, Holmdel Community Center, Crawfords Corner Road: Andrew Katz, Holmdel Township Administrator, spoke about his role in Holmdel business and his goals for the town.

Monday, December 12, 7:30 pm, Professor Clinton Andrews of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University and noted municipal planner explained a redevelopment plan and then moderated a discussion of Holmdel’s recently introduced Alcatel-Lucent Redevelopment Plan ordinance.

Monday, November 14, Stephen Gale spoke about Philip Freneau, the poet, nature lover, and participant in the American Revolution for whom Freneau Woods in Aberdeen is named. Freneau grew up in Monmouth County, and was buried in Matawan.

Monday, October 10, at 7:30: panel discussion on the use and siting of windmills, followed by a question and answer session. John Curran of HAQLA (Hazlet Area Quality of Life Alliance), Bart Sutton of the Union Beach Environmental Trust, and Bill Heller, who hosts the website noturbine.com, shared their experience.

Saturday, September 10, 3:00-7 PM: CILU's annual picnic at Veterans Park, Holmdel. The price was $10 per family and $5 for individuals, hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks were included and participants brought salad or dessert to share.

Sunday, July 10, 3:30-7 PM: CILU’s Eco-Cruise through Raritan Bay and around Staten Island. With a Baykeeper guide, we left the Captain John dock in Keyport, traveled along Arthur Kill and the Kill van Kull and went under the Verrazano Bridge, learning about Raritan Bay and seeing the New Jersey shoreline from a new vantage point. Price, including refreshments of sandwiches, snacks, water, soft drinks, and wine, was $50 for adults and $25 for children.

Saturday, June 4, 10-12 AM, Cheesequake State Park, Matawan: Naturalist Jim Faczek led a walk exploring the plants, animals, and geology of the park.
