ROUTINE UPDATES

  • This section describes the design of the home page.

The home page has 3 sections. The top section is split into 2 columns. The left column has the next upcoming CILU event, and the brief synopsis of each of the most recent 3 or 4 CILU events.

The right column has any other important issue of information, for example (previously) info and the petition link for saving Crawford Hill, and info and the petition link for the West Main St / Vonage property.

Below that is the second section, which contains two columns. In the left are any other notices, and the right column has the calendar. More on the calendar later.

The third section is Join/Donate information.

  • What to do if the latest upcoming event has passed, and you don’t have the publicity info for the next event.

Typically we know what the next event is, and the date, but we don’t have the publicity info yet.

    • In this case, remove the blocks (image and text) for the event that just passed.

    • Replace them with something like “Save the Date” for the next event.

    • Add a short summary of the last event to the Recent Updates list.

    • Finally, move the Recent Updates block up so there isn’t a big gap on the page.

    • If there was a video recording of the recent event, add it to the list on the “CILU Videos” page.

    • Add the next event to the calendar, just the title is sufficient if you don’t have more information.

  • If you have the publicity info for the next CILU event, just replace the previous event info with the new events info.

    • Replace the image. You can delete the image block and create a new one, or edit the existing image block. I typically resize the image offline for better “fit”.

    • Replace the text describing the image. You may need to reword the text - reduce and summarize.

    • Add a short summary of the last event to the Recent Updates list.

    • If there was a video recording of the recent event, add it to the list on the “CILU Videos” page.

    • Add the next event to the calendar, just the title is sufficient if you don’t have more information.

  • Add a calendar event, for example for a new CILU public meeting.

    • Go to the Events 1 page in the Not Linked section

    • At the top of the left pane, click on the "+" sign (add a new event)

    • In the "New Event" window, add the event title, date and time, location

    • For the date and time, there are two sides, Event Start and Event End

    • Use the little slide bar under the calendar to specify the time

    • Click Save

    • After you click save, there a text block next to the Event title, where you can input the event details.

    • Back at the event, if you click on the date/time, the Event Settings window pops up.

    • If you have an image for the event, upload it here. NB: These are small "thumbnail" images. Again, I typically resize the image offline first.

    • Click Save and Publish.
